Message from the AKD Chapter Coordinator

2009 is a great year to be a Sociology student at the University of Washington: our building in the quad is being remodeled, the faculty is growing and a report by U.S. News and World Report ranked Sociology at the University in the top 10 of public institutions. Young professors like Jake Rosenfeld [SOC 360, FallĀ  quarter] are bringing fresh perspectives to an already world renowned faculty. Undergrads in UW Sociology are making headlines with their scholarships, honors, and research. In addition, the re-established SSA [Sociology Student Association] is in its 2nd year of new leadership, and is a great way for sociology students to become deeper engaged in their field of study.

We [Alpha Kappa Delta] are also a part of a of the positive growth in the Sociology department here at the University of Washington. Through our association with the SSA we offer an opportunity for academic excellence for all sociology students. I am very much anticipating what 2009 will hold to the Alpha chapter of Alpha Kappa Delta in 2009. Hopefully you will be a part!

Sincerely Yours,

Marianne Goldin
